Gloria Swanson (1897-1983) was perhaps the best known and admired actress of her generation. She began acting at the age of 15 in silent movies and was one of the few actors to successfully make the transition to “talkies.”   Muriel acted as her stunt double by doing a dangerous dive in a pirate movie, but didn’t actually meet Gloria till years later in Paris.  Gloria Swanson was married and divorced seven times, was nominated for three Academy Awards for Best Actress and in later years frequently appeared on television.  To learn more about Gloria Swanson, click here.
