Moulin Rouge

Located near the top of Montmartre, the Moulin Rouge (Red Mill) was a cabaret built in 1889. It is known as the birthplace of the can-can, a seductive dance invented by the women who worked at the club.  As Paris’s most famous cabaret for over 200 years, there have been over a dozen films made about the Moulin Rouge.  Today it is a major tourist attraction, but in the 1920s, when Muriel & Bob frequented the club, it was also a favorite gathering place for locals.
